Testing & Commissioning Engineer One of Australia’s largest electrical & communications contractors is looking to engage the services of a High Voltage Testing & Commissioning Engineer Job Description The job description for a High Voltage Testing & Commissioning Engineer in Australia typically includes the following responsibilities and qualifications: Responsibilities: - Perform primary and secondary plant testing, including protection relay testing, circuit breaker analysis, Transformers, Cables, Earthing systems and SCADA Systems/Communication platforms
- Experience and knowledge in using and developing test plans using specialized Testing equipment’s like Omicron
- Develop and execute commissioning plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Pre-Commissioning/Functional tests.
- Analyse test results against manufacturer specifications and design data, investigating and rectifying anomalies or faults
- Fault finding skills
Qualifications: - Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Power
- 3+ years of hands-on field and project commissioning experience working on HV substations, switchgear, or renewable energy projects.
- Carry HV Tickets like RIC, SFT & HV Switching certificate would be an advantage.
- Deep Knowledge of power system protection schemes, SCADA systems, and specialized high-voltage testing methodologies.
- Relevant regional or state-based electrical worker licenses, authorizations (e.g., VESI), and safety certifications depending on your location.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
