The Opportunity – Electrical Estimator (Taree, NSW)

An opportunity exists for a motivated and detail-focused Estimator to join our Northern NSW team based in Taree.
This role supports the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders across electrical and communications projects. The initial term is 18 months, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Reporting to the Branch and Estimating leadership team, you will play a key role in analysing project requirements, preparing estimates, reviewing documentation, and supporting successful project delivery from tender stage through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to prepare accurate estimates
  • Analyse labour, materials, subcontractor pricing, and project risks to produce competitive submissions
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams to obtain pricing and technical information
  • Identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities before tender submission
  • Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions, and value-engineering options
  • Maintain clear records of tender decisions, assumptions, and documentation in line with company procedures
  • Assist with project budgets, reporting, and financial analysis
  • Support handover of successful tenders to delivery teams
  • Build and maintain professional communication with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with company systems, contractual obligations, and standards
  • Apply sound HSE awareness and risk-based thinking when reviewing project requirements

What You’ll Bring

You are analytical, commercially aware, and technically capable, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work within structured systems and deadlines.

Essential

  • Electrical Licence

  • Construction Industry General Safety Induction (White Card)

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical and communications contracting

  • Experience preparing estimates or tender submissions for construction projects

  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation

  • Strong analytical, organisational, and prioritisation skills

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred

  • Experience in project delivery or project management within electrical construction
  • Exposure to MS Project or similar planning tools
  • Technical or trade-based electrical background
